About the artist
Hi! My name is Martina Peškar-Rusznák, and I’m a middle-grade book illustrator based in Prague, Czech Republic. I’m so happy you’re here!
I create whimsical digital illustrations that bring humor, warmth, and atmosphere to all stories. My style is cartoony and expressive, full of emotion and storytelling. For interior art, I often work in digital ink black and white, while my covers feature digital watercolor for a softer, more vibrant look. I especially love drawing animals that are curious, fun, and full of personality.
I’ve illustrated four published children’s books and worked on a wide range of creative projects—from book layouts and surface designs to planners, cards, and educational materials.
I’m currently open to freelance illustration and book projects, as well as collaborations with publishers and agents.

„Martina was amazing to work with. She diligently delivered the art and made all the edits I needed. It was a fantastic experience, and Roku is now in the hands of so many happy kids, whose day is better when they meet Roku!”
Laura-P-Schaposnik | Author of A Difficult Day
„I have collaborated with Martina on two projects. She is an extremely talented illustrator. She is very responsive to the brief provided and delivers on point. She makes a lot of effort to understand the cultural context of the story and tries to do a visual parallel narrative, which is so crucial in children’s picture books. I have enjoyed my collaborations with her and would certainly recommend her for future projects at my own establishment and with others as well.”
Leena H. | Publisher and Author
„If you’re looking for an illustrator who combines technical talent with creative intuition, I highly recommend Martina. Her work speaks for itself—thoughtful, imaginative, and visually stunning. Beyond her artistic ability, she conducts herself with professionalism and care, making her a reliable and pleasant collaborator. This was my first time working with her, and I wouldn’t hesitate to reach out again for future projects.”
